Want to hit up Magnolia, and mack on some cupcakes?

You might have a chance soon, no trip to New York necessary. Magnolia Bakery is eyeing Boston as part of a push for northeastern expansion, the Boston Business Journal reported. If all goes well, Boston could have confetti cupcakes, banana pudding cakes, and icebox desserts by late 2017 or early 2018. The company confirms it’s looking at a location nearby, but won’t say where just yet.

Many might recognize the bakery’s voluptuous sweets from television cameos, including on “Sex and the City.” It’s also the storefront that cures the hunger pangs of Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell in the “Saturday Night Live” digital short, “Lazy Sunday.” A Magnolia location in Boston would mean we could nosh that same bomb frosting.

Magnolia Bakery first debuted in Greenwich Village in 1996, and has since fueled a resurgence in cupcake fandom that’s swept across the U.S. The bakery currently has storefronts in Los Angeles, Chicago, and a few international locations. In addition to Boston, the company is also looking at real estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Washington D.C., Eater Boston reported.

Nothing is set in stone yet. While we await news, let’s brainstorm how many cupcakes we’ll order. Two? Six? 12? Baker’s dozen? We’re crazy excited for these cupcakes to come to Boston, cousin.
