Verts Mediterranean Grill Is Coming to the Financial District

The build-your-own pita chain opens its first location outside Texas in downtown Boston on November 4.

Downtown Boston will soon have a new destination for falafel, feta cheese, and pita bread: Verts Mediterranean Grill plans to open in the Financial District on Friday, November 4.

The upcoming Summer Street storefront will mark the Texas-based chain’s first footprint on the East Coast. It’s part of a 200-store, nationwide expansion that cofounders Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein plan by 2020, the Boston Business Journal reported. The two debuted the chain back in 2011, and it has since become one of the fastest growing fast-casual restaurants in the U.S.

Verts’ menu focuses on build-your-own pita wraps, rice bowls, and salads. Each entrée comes with your choice of protein (chicken, falafel, beef meatballs, etc.), and a medley of toppings ranging from carrot slaw to spiced chickpeas. Once your creation is assembled, drench it in sauces like tzatziki, hummus, or spicy cilantro. A number of sides, such as sweet potato fries and extra falafel rolls, are also available.

The fast-casual company wants to hook you up with free food so you can try it for yourself. On opening day in Boston, Verts will give out a complimentary entrées between 11 a.m.-9 p.m. The store plans to donate all of its sales that Friday to a local nonprofit organization, so don’t be shy about ordering a few extra snacks for later.

Even better, the first 200 people to arrive that morning will receive a gift bag filled with coupons, recipes, and a branded t-shirt. The restaurant is also planning a few contests via social media closer to opening day, so keep your eyes peeled.
