Smith & Wollensky Is Poised for Global Expansion

The Boston-based steakhouse chain is considering locations in Tokyo, Bangkok, and Seoul.

Local steakhouse chain Smith & Wollensky was bought out by an Irish investment firm called Danu Partners earlier this year, and now, it looks like that acquisition will thrust the restaurant into international markets.

The Boston-based restaurant group is looking to bring its surf ‘n’ turf to markets around the globe, Boston Business Journal reported. The news arrives after the company debuted an outpost in London last year.

“Our teams in the U.S. and London have worked closely together to build a robust infrastructure, and this is a perfect platform on which to build a global business,” Leonard Ryan, a representative with Danu Partners, told the BBJ.

Danu Partners is currently eyeing prospective steakhouse locations in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Mexico City, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, and Dubai, the BBJ reports. The steakhouse currently has ten locations worldwide, including two locally in a Back Bay castle (of course), and on the water in Fort Point. Other U.S. locations are in Chicago, Miami, and Columbus, Ohio, which will all get renovated in light of this expected growth.
