Somerville has a new place for noodles: Totto Ramen officially opens at Assembly Row today at noon.

This is the second local outpost for the New York-based chain—the first is in Allston—and its sixth storefront overall. The new, 1,000 square foot space, located near Muse Paintbar in the outdoor mall, seats around 30 people and features the same menu of signature ramen dishes and pork buns available in Allston.

“We’re excited to bring our popular menu to even more parts of the area, and Assembly Row is the ideal location,” says Nghi Nguyen, founder of Two Turtles LLC, which owns and operates Totto Ramen’s Boston-area locations.

The Somerville spot will be cash-only at first, but it plans to begin accepting credit cards next week, a first for the chain. It will also be the first to accomodate takeout, according to its website, and plans to introduce its own cocktail menu in early 2017.

Totto Ramen is known for using chicken broth in its soups, rather than the more common pork bone broth. You can taste that difference for yourself in miso ramen, with ground pork, sprouts, and a half-boiled egg; and larger servings like the mega ramen, which comes with char siu pork, garlic, onion, and scallions. Bowls can be topped with additional ingredients like poached eggs, bamboo shoots, and seasoned avocado.

Totto Ramen at Assembly Row will be open from noon-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and noon-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
