PREVIOUSLY:
Downtown Crossing is the latest neighborhood to get its own Chicken & Rice Guys. The food truck-turned-burgeoning restaurant empire just announced they’ll open their fourth brick-and-mortar on Washington Street in January.
Taking over a former Cheeseboy franchise, the DTX location follows an Allston shop, which debuted in November, and a Medford flagship, which hatched early this year, and it’s about a half-mile from the first permanent Chicken & Rice Guys on Bedford Street. Since launching as a food truck in 2011, CNR Guys has grown to a fleet of five bright yellow, mobile outposts, which roam the region daily.
Chicken & Rice Guys have a succinct but ever-popular menu of seasoned grains topped with a choice of grilled chicken, beef and lamb gyro, or fried tofu, plus shredded lettuce, pita, and house-made sauces.
The newest restaurant debuts Saturday, January 21. As with previous store “hatchings,” as the Guys call grand openings, the Downtown Crossing location will offer giveaways throughout the day, including the chance to win free chicken and rice for life, and free meals for the first 50 guests.
