UPDATE, December 9, 12:30 p.m.: Fat Rice chef Abraham Conlon and Steven Marcaurelle or Tres Gatos have just shared the a la carte menu they’ll serve on Tuesday. Check it out below.

PREVIOUSLY:

Fat Rice has given Chicago (and beyond) a taste for Macau cuisine—a mix of Portuguese and southern Chinese fare—with dishes like the namesake arroz gordo (literally, “fat rice”), a paella-like bowl of jasmine rice topped with everything from prawns to chorizo; sweet and sour pork belly, and vegetable curry.

Any of this sound good? If so, try it for yourself next week when Fat Rice pops up in Jamaica Plain.

On Tuesday, December 13, chef Abraham Conlon of the Michelin-awarded Chicago restaurant will stop by Tres Gatos  to offer a five-course dinner for two, as well as an a la carte menu. (Update: Check out the menu below.) The night will feature plates and entrées from Conlon’s newest cookbook, The Adventures of Fat Rice: Recipes From the Chicago Restaurant Inspired by Macau, and riffs on a few recipes in the book by Tres Gatos chef Stephen Marcaurelle.

As the Boston Globe noted, Conlon grew up in Lowell before opening Fat Rice with owner Adrienne Lo. After finding success in the Midwest, they rolled up those recipes into a cookbook chock-full of dishes showcasing Macau fare. The book, co-written with former Fat Rice sous chef Hugh Amano, came out in October.

The first 10 groups to reserve a seat at the pop-up dinner will be able to purchase a signed copy of the cookbook for $20. The book will be on sale for a discount at Tres Gatos that night, too.

The event will begin with light snacks and a meet-and-greet with Conlon, and walk-ins will be accommodated starting at 6 p.m.  Reservations are highly recommended, so if you’re even remotely interested in the above dishes, we suggest you start making moves.

$90, Tuesday, December 13, 5:30-10 p.m., Tres Gatos, 470 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, 617-477-4851, Event Page.
