What to Eat (and Drink) This Weekend

Support the Cambridge Fire Relief Fund at Bantam Cider and Puritan & Co., find local eggnog at Crescent Ridge, and more December happenings.

Late-Night Pizza and Stromboli at Area Four Boston

You’d never know it by their flagship, but the team at Area Four know how to party after hours. The fire goes out in Kendall around 10 p.m., but the late, great A4 Pizza kept things hot with late-night slices. That tradition returns with $3 slices this weekend at the shiny, new Area Four Boston. The topping options will change nightly, and there are also a variety of cheesy meat- and vegetable-filled breads, aka stromboli ($3). The late-night menu officially debuts tonight.

Late-Night at Area Four Boston, nightly beginning Friday, December 15, 11 p.m.-2 a.m., Troy Boston, 264 East Berkeley St., South End, 857-317-4805, areafour.com.

Eggnog

Maybe tonight you’ll want a steamy hot chocolate, but it’s going to warm up a bit later on this weekend, and the festive libation you should reach for is rich, creamy eggnog. Crescent Ridge Farm has fresh jugs at its Boston Public Market shop (pictured) so you can bring some home. Lots of local bars, cafés, and restaurants break out the ’nog every year, too, like Pavement, No. 9 Park, Hojoko—not to mention nog-tastic treats from Rosebud, Kane’s Donuts, and this Sunday, December, 18, the Parlor Ice Cream Co. at Longfellows Coffee.

DooWee’s at Umbria Prime

A talented, yet transient, chef has found a new home in Boston. For the past month, Duy Tran has been at Umbria Prime, offering nightly dinner service, and daytime and events catering with his signature DooWee’s style. Tran is known for creative bao, rice plates, chicken wings, and “heart-y fries,” topped with savory chicken hearts. Poké, ceviche, and family-style, wood-roasted seafood platters are also on the menu.

Broadsheet Coffee Roasters at Honeycomb Creamery

Construction is underway on Kirkland Street to bring a coffee roasting company to Cambridge, but Broadsheet owner Aaron MacDougall and his partner, Wolf Marnell, aren’t sitting around waiting. This Saturday, they’re introducing their startup to Camberville with afternoon affagatos at Honeycomb Creamery. They will also have espresso and beverages like a classic cappuccino, which sounds like the perfect match for Honeycomb’s flavors, like Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean and Salty Honey, and its new liège waffles.

Broadsheet Coffee Roasters Pop-Up, Saturday, December 17, 2-5 p.m., Honeycomb Creamery, 1702 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-714-3983, Facebook.

Bantam Cider, Brunch at Lord Hobo, and a baller chef-driven feast—all to benefit the East Cambridge Fire Victims

While this weekend will likely bring new ways to help neighbors in Charlestown, more than 100 people remain displaced in East Cambridge after a 10-alarm fire ravaged 16 buildings on December 3. Camberville businesses are here to help—and fill your bellies in the meantime. Bantam Cider Company has an ongoing, online contest to win an epic gift pack with more than 20 boozy bottles (and cans) from the likes of Aeronaut Brewing Co., Carr’s Ciderhouse, Night Shift, and more, plus gift cards to Atwood’s, Old Magoun’s Saloon, and Bukowski’s Cambridge. It’s $10 to enter with proceeds going to the Cambridge Mayor’s Fire Relief Fund, and a winner will be draw at random later this month.

At Lord Hobo on Sunday, don your ugliest, most festive sweater and pull up a seat for Fugly Brunch. Proper attire will get your free entry into a raffle for a Christmas Mystery Box (we don’t know what that is, but we want it), and you can up your odds by purchasing more—raffle ticket sales go to the Mayor’s Relief Fund.

Later that day, an all-star lineup of Cambridge chefs are throwing down at Puritan & Co. Chefs from the host restaurant, the Blue Room and Belly Wine Bar, Commonwealth, Craigie on Main, Little Donkey, and Bisq are coming together to feast for friends. Tickets are $100, and you know where proceeds are headed. They include all food and drink throughout the evening.
