Winter Expedition to the Fermentation District

The boozy trio of Night Shift, Bone Up Brewing, and Short Path Distillery are joining forces yet again to host a block party tonight. Night Shift has a special, cellared beer, Mobile Munch Kitchen food truck, and live music from 8-10 p.m. Bone Up has a brand new Summit Single Hop Pale Ale coming out, plus Daddy’s Bonetown Burgers and a s’mores hand pie bar (?!) from Caldwell Confections. At the distillery, try wintry cocktails, like the Yeti, with rum, coffee, chai, coconut milk, and maple syrup. And watch out for the Boston Yeti himself—he’ll be roaming around snapping pictures and sipping pints.

Friday, January 13, 5-11 p.m., Night Shift Brewing, 87 Santilli Highway, Everett, 617-294-4233, nightshiftbrewing.com; Bone Up Brewing, 38 Norman St., Everett, 781-691-9092, boneup.beer; Short Path Distillery, 71 Kelvin St., Everett, 617-830-7954, shortpathdistillery.com.

Springdale Barrel Room

Perhaps you made it to Framingham to check out Jack’s Abby new, sour- and barrel-aged-beer-focused sibling when it softly opened in December, before Springdale Barrel Room had to close and deal with an unexpected licensing issue. It reopens this weekend with three, brand new packaged beers—Good N’ You IPA, Clerical Error double IPA, and Kriek Mythology, an oak-aged sour beer with cherries—new games, and a pop-up raw bar, care of the Shuck Food Truck.

Reopens Saturday, January 14, 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m., 102 Clinton St., Framingham, 508-872-0900, springdalebeer.com.

Football Food

After a bye week, the Patriots are back in the thick of things with the AFC Divisional Playoffs against Houston on Saturday night. Planning to kick it at home with your crew? Make a few impressive appetizers, courtesy of chefs Joshua Smith (Moody’s Delicatessen, New England Charcuterie), Irene Li (Mei Mei), and Michael Scelfo (Alden & Harlow, Waypoint), who have all shared perfect playoff plates with Boston this month. Not up for spending Saturday afternoon in the kitchen? A number of local restaurants are rolling out their Super Bowl takeout menus for fans this week: Check out Uni chef Tony Messina’s platters ($100 for four people) of gochujang chicken wings, crispy wagyu beef dumplings, the White Castle burger makimono roll, and brand-new Brady roll with spicy tuna, avocado, and puffed rice, for good luck. Another option: Tasty Burger has sacks of five burgers ($23-$29), milkshakes by the dozen ($50), and more. Or, go Tex-Mex, with a taco box from Loco Taqueria. Chef Matt Drummond packs up tortillas, proteins, sauces, and toppings so you can create the ultimate DIY taco bar in your living room.

Low-Alcohol Cocktails & Mocktails

If you have Monday off, maybe you want to go a little easy on your liver this weekend? You can find delightful, low-octane cocktails all around Boston, at places like Loyal Nine, Tiger Mama, Fat Hen, and more. If you want to detox entirely, a few new places have fun mocktails on the menu, too: Try a blackberry shrub and tonic at Pagu; Pickles the Great, a booze-free, dirty martini-esque, soda shop classic at Mamaleh’s; and Cran You Believe It, a cranberry-fennel concoction at Waypoint.
