Danny Meyer and the Shake Shack team have been quick to integrate technology into their business plan. The burger chain has boasted an iOS app for some time now, and brought that mobile ordering option to Massachusetts late last year. Now, the Shake Shack app is live nationwide, and that calls for celebration.

Well, more accurately, it calls for free food.

Now through February, new users can download Shake Shack’s mobile app and nab a free Shackburger. When you create an account, just pop in the promo code “shackappy” at checkout. The deal spans all U.S stores (minus those in airports and stadiums), including any of the chain’s five Massachusetts locations in the Seaport, Harvard Square, and more.

Aside from giving out free food, Shake Shack’s app lets users flip through the menu of sandwiches, custard cups, and crinkle-cut fries to order remotely. After assembling your meal, select a location, choose a time to drop by, and let the staff handle the rest. Customers can also view dietary information, upcoming events, and even tune into a live stream from the original ’Shack in Madison Square Park.

“The Shack App brings a whole new way to experience Shake Shack for our guests—meeting them where they are, when they want, on their terms,” CEO Randy Garutti wrote in a press release. “Our initial test and rollout have gone very smoothly, and I am thrilled to share that you can now order ahead at nearly all of our U.S. Shacks.”

With the iOS app now operational across the country, it’ll be interesting to see how future updates shake out. Note to any hungry non-Apple users: an Android app is on its way.
