The Greek takeover of Boston continues: Gre.Co will bring pita wraps and feta fries to Newbury Street before January is out (see update). The latest fast-causal Mediterranean spot lands just a few weeks after Saloniki set up a second storefront in Central Square.
Owner Demetri Tsolakis (Committee) and his team expect to open on January 30 or January 31, a representative for the restaurant confirmed. To celebrate, the restaurant will dish out free loukoumades (Greek doughnut balls)—keep an eye on Greo.Co’s Facebook page for an announcement.
Those fried sweets are a big player on the menu, and can be customized with toppings such as hazelnut praline, Oreo cookie, coconut flakes, and more, plus signature flavors like Golpho, with caramel and almonds; and Tasos, dusted with coconut and dark chocolate.
Before dessert, choose from a list of classics such as a lamb gyro with tomato jam; the loukaniko pork and leek sausage wrap doused in mustard sauce; and a veggie option with a creamy yogurt sauce and squash fritters. Adventurous diners can build their own entrée from a selection of proteins and sauces, including spiced bifteki and tzatziki. A few pre-built salads and sides will also be on hand. Check out the full menu below.
Many of the ingredients for these plates will be sourced locally from Savenor’s Market and Eva’s Garden of Dartmouth, among others, so expect savory and fresh eats when the Greek spot debuts next week.
