Blackbird Doughnuts Is Definitely Opening Another Shop (or More) in 2017

The next location will very likely be in Fenway.

Blackbird Doughnuts is getting into the big leagues. Owner Rebecca Roth Gullo has had a second location in the works since at least September, when she first mentioned it to Boston, and Eater Boston has noticed today that the South End-born bakeshop is likely expanding into Fenway.

Blackbird Instagrammed a blueprint of the first expansion. Reached by phone today, Gullo says 2017 could potentially see even more Blackbird Doughnuts shops, too. She won’t confirm any new location at this point, but she says Eater found the right LLC. The blog reports Gullo registered a new business called RRG Fenway back in October. Online records show it’s tied to the address of her first restaurant, the Gallows, for now.

“We love Blackbird, and Boston loves it too. We can’t wait to bring them more,” Gullo says.

“Let’s play ball,” Blackbird shared on Instagram. The post got comments from Sweet Cheeks and Tiger Mama chef Tiffani Faison and CBC Fenway, who both called the shop “neighbor.”

Gullo will say the team has signed a lease, is in the midst of the permitting process, and will start construction soon on the second location of Blackbird Doughnuts.

While we await more details on additional places for award-winning Boston cream bismarcks, mint chocolate-glazed, everything bagel doughnuts, and cheeky Valentine’s messages, just head to the South End. Blackbird Doughnuts is open every day until 6 p.m.
