Chilacates Will Open at the Street in Chestnut Hill
The growing group of taquerias is headed for shopping and dining development in spring 2018.
The best Mexican food in Boston is proliferating. Chilacates, with two locations in Jamaica Plain and one on the way to Mission Hill, is also opening an outpost at the Street at Chestnut Hill, the development announced today.
“I’m excited to bring Chilacates from my street to your Street, desde mi calle a tu calle,” owner Socrates Abreu said in today’s press release.
Chilacates, which debuted on Amory Street in 2015, offers authentic tacos, burritos, salads, and more Mexican dishes, based on recipes from Socrates’ sister-in-law and business partner Kaurys Ramirez. The inexpensive, build-your-own menu will be a welcome addition to the burgeoning dining landscape at the Street, said the property’s general manager Alana Frey. Chilacates is slated for a spring 2018 opening at the Street, along with the East Coast expansion of the Danny Meyer-backed chain Tender Greens.
Scorates said the success of his original takeout taqueria—which also claims the Improper Bostonian’s best tacos of 2017—is what led to Chilacates’ rapid expansion. The second location on Centre Street opened in February, and the Mission Hill location is under construction. Stay tuned for more tacos.
