Hooked Fish Shop Will Bring Seafood to Bow Market
Red's Best and Boston Smoked Fish Co. items will create the fast and affordable menu.
Two local contractors deep in the Boston seafood scene will bring their knowledge to Somerville’s forthcoming Bow Market. Hooked Fish Shop is the latest food vendor announced for the exciting development, Eater Boston reports. Hooked is a new venture from former chef, licensed commercial fisherman, and Red’s Best salesman Jason Tucker, and partner Jimmy Rider, who owns the bicycle-powered Evergreen Delivery, which offers local seafood, among other products.
In addition to fresh, New England seafood and smoked items, Hooked will offer fast, affordable meals, like fish tacos, poké bowls, chowders, Iggy’s bagels topped with Boston Smoked Fish, and other creative street food fare, Tucker told Eater. The small storefront (Bow Market is populated with ~165-square foot spaces) may have a couple seats inside, and potentially an outdoor raw bar, as well as shared seating with other vendors.
The two fishmongers have both represented Red’s Best and Boston Smoked Fish Co. products as farmers’ market contractors, but the well-known companies have no ownership stake in Hooked, Eater notes. Both Tucker and Rider intend to continue representing Red’s Best and other companies at markets once Hooked is open, too.
To get up and running, Tucker and Rider just launched a $25,000 crowdfunding campaign to outfit their Bow Market stall with an ice machine, display cases, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
Bow Market is on track for a spring 2018 debut. The two-story colonnade will have other culinary concepts, including Remnant Brewing, Tanám, a Filipino dinner series and cocktail bar; North South, a new venture from Mike & Patty’s; Buenas sauces and empanadas (which is also crowdfunding), Gaté Comme des Filles chocolates, and more. Upstairs, the property will have a theater, a gallery, and an array of local retail and gift shops.
