Allium Market Opens Today in Coolidge Corner
With curated cheeses, pantry items, food gifts, and a cozy café overlooking Beacon Street.
While grabbing a quick latte, or a fresh salad for lunch today—why not knock a few more Christmas gifts off the list? Brookline has a new specialty shop and café in Allium Market, opening today at 8 a.m.
Allium Market offers a large selection of domestic and imported cheeses, cut-to-order; plus jams and preserves, charcuterie, oils, tinned fish, olives and pickles, mustards, salts, pastas, and more provisions. To kick things off so close to Christmas, opening day today will feature samples, demos, and a truffle product tasting—truffle salt, truffle honey, and more—plus a discount on these luxury products.
Cheesemonger Chelsea Germer is also offering catering platters, with time still to get in an order for New Year’s Eve.
The new spot is also a full-service café, with George Howell coffee and espresso, Mem Teas, and drinking vinegar and shrub spriters; plus house-made pastries by executive pastry chef Tania Peterson, an alum of Tremont 647, Chez Henri, and Bricco. The lunch menu at Allium Market has Mediterranean-style salads, toasts, made-to-order cheese platters, and more light fare all day.
The startup venture is the ownership debut from Talia Glass, a Michigan native who is inspired by and worked for Ann Arbor institution Zingerman’s Deli. Glass crowdfunded $30,000 to help the buildout of a former Walgreen’s into a modern beauty, with an emerald-tiled wall in the cafe, and hanging plants from the ceiling.
Allium Market opens today from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., the hours every Tuesday-Friday going forward. It will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays, and closed on Mondays.
