While we wait for news on what beer gardens are headed for the Greenway this spring, at least there is this: Trillium has quietly debuted a patio at its Canton taproom. It officially opens this weekend, with Moody’s, Jaju Pierogi, and other food vendors on hand to help break it in.

The outdoor space spans about 2,200 square feet, accessible through a door about four feet from the main taproom entrance, says Jonathan Tompkins. There are beer garden-style tables and benches out there, but the space is flexible, so as the season continues, there may be barrels for standing room, or other furniture, he adds.

While guests will be allowed to take beers outside during taproom hours, the patio also has its own service bar that will open when it’s really busy, Tompkins says. There will be eight draft lines out there, with the same selection available inside. The beer list is updated daily online. Like Trillium’s regular taproom, the patio is also dog-friendly.

“We’re looking forward to the patio’s inaugural season filled with food trucks, events, plenty of sun, and many cold beers,” Tompkins says.

This post was updated Friday, April 13, to reflect that Trillium Brewing has decided to officially open the patio today instead of on Patriots’ Day.
