Kickstart this spring-like week with some welcome beer news: The Trillium Garden on the Greenway is officially coming back. Beginning Thursday, May 24, the open-air bar near Rowes Wharf will open five days a week, weather-permitting, just a few blocks away from this season’s new Dewey Square cider bar, the Downeast Back Porch on the Greenway.

Last year, the non-profit Greenway Conservancy called for a beer garden to help support the public gardens, art, and events at the downtown Boston park. Fort Point-born, Canton-based Trillium operated the experiment with a custom-built draft trailer, which they segued into a winter-season beer hall at the Roslindale Substation.

Following what the Greenway Conservancy calls the “unqualified success” of the inaugural 2017 season, the Trillium Garden will be open expanded hours this year, on Wednesday-Friday from 2-10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The brewing company’s director of marketing, Jonathan Tompkins, says the team has adjusted the furniture layout this season, too, in such a way that optimizes the space on the 4,000-square foot pavilion.

The bar will offer a rotating lineup of Trillium’s hazy ales, stouts, sours, and collaborations, plus a couple wines from Westport Rivers Winery. The South Coast vineyard is New England’s largest, and also where Trillium owners JC and Esther Tetreault got engaged. Food trucks are regularly parked at Rowes Wharf again this season, and the public park has free wifi.

“Our goal has always been to build a strong community and share what we do,” Esther Tetreault said in a press release. “The Trillium Garden on The Greenway gives us a unique way to connect with our Boston-area fans and a perfect showcase for visitors to enjoy summer in the city we love.”

The Greenway’s food truck season is in full swing, with the annual Spring Food Truck Festival coming up this Saturday, May 5. The Trillium Garden on the Greenway and the Downeast Cider Back Porch are both on track to open in late May, and stick around through October. If you must drink Trillium beers outside this week, visit its Canton taproom, which just debuted an outdoor bar and patio.
