Bissell Brothers Brunch Returns to Row 34 in June
With special-edition bottles of Cask Force maple syrup to benefit Lovin' Spoonfuls.
Getting a taste of any of the ales brewed by Bissell Brothers typically requires a trip to Portland, and at least a few minutes waiting in line. But on June 10, the cult-followed beer makers are saying hello to Boston: Bissell Brothers returns to Row 34 for a redux of their boozy maple brunch collaboration with boutique bottlers Cask Force.
Last spring, Row 34 debuted a Cask Force barrel-aged version of Bissell’s maple porter, Angels With Filthy Souls. The brunch menu was bolstered with specials like French toast sticks and Cask Force maple syrup flights, and the Bissells sent down kegs of Swish, Substance, Industry vs. Inferiority, and more.
The draft lineup and chef John Tubolino’s menu isn’t yet set for this year’s event, but Row 34 beer director Suzanne Hays says there will be plenty of beer and barrel-aged, Vermont maple syrup.
Mike Hammecker, a Fort Point-based artist, painted the colorful line murals inside Bissell Brothers’ Thompsons Point taproom. He has designed special-edition labels for two, large-format bottles of Cask Force’s Angels With Filthy Souls-barrel-aged maple syrup, which will be raffled off in support of Lovin’ Spoonfuls food rescue.
The restaurant is taking some reservations, but walk-ins are encouraged beginning at 10:30 a.m. The beers will pour until they’re gone, and brunch goes until 4:30 p.m.
