The 3,500-square foot space, located on-site at Lord Hobo’s three-year-old brewery, is outfitted with 40 tap lines. These pour house beers like Boom Sauce, Glorious, and Angelica New England Wheat, plus taproom exclusives. There will also be guest brews, so that Woburn, too, can reap the benefits of owner Daniel Lanigan’s decade of relationships built at Cambridge’s Lord Hobo beer bar and his previous life running seminal Western Mass. pubs, the Dirty Truth and Moan & Dove. The Lord Hobo Beer Hall also has wine on draft, non-alcoholic drinks, and a nitro tap pouring cold-brewed coffee.
Former Lord Hobo pub chef Matthew Bullock is in the new kitchen in Woburn. He created a menu of craft pizzas, like the Figgy, with a sweet garlic base, mozzarella, and dried figs; Peppadew and Bacon, with mascarpone cheese, peppadew peppers, crispy bacon, and fresh herbs; and a fall veggie pie loaded with mascarpone and taleggio cheeses, roasted delicata squash, and a drizzle of honey and fresh chopped parsley. There are also salads and small plates to share.
The kitchen will open daily at 3 p.m., but the taproom will start pouring at 11 a.m., with Wifi and other amenities in the taproom for folks who want to use it as third space for networking and collaborating, marketing manager Drea Hudson says. There’s a host of programming planned, too, including “yappy hours,” though Lord Hobo is no longer always dog-friendly, as the low-frills tasting room once was; as well as trivia, bring-your-own vinyl nights, and more. The Humble Castle will also host artists-in-residence, changing quarterly, thanks to partners Street Theory Gallery and Support Local Artists. Up first is Sagie Vangelina, whose works will be unveiled later this month.
“We are beyond thrilled to finally have a space that artists will have access to in order to showcase their creativity,” Hudson says.
Lord Hobo Brewing Co. launched in 2015 and became one of the fastest-growing craft breweries in the country; it’s now available in 15 states.
“From the beginning we wanted to make high-quality beers widely available,” Lanigan said in a press release. “But we realized we also had an opportunity and desire to better serve our fans at the mothership. Our team, friends of the brewery and fans will now have a proper place to call home and hang out.”
The beer hall opens this weekend with—among other beers—the first taproom-only limited release: a new imperial stout called Godmother. A grand opening is planned for Saturday, Nov. 17, from noon-10 p.m., with the first look at Vangelina’s art, a DJ, and fans’ first taste of Lord Hobo’s new collaboration beer with the creative culinary minds behind East Boston Oysters.
Regular hours of 11 a.m.-midnight begin Saturday, Nov. 10.
