The 2019 Boston Calling Food Menu Is Here, with Hot Chicken Cheesesteaks and Mikkeller Beer

Loosen up your fanny packs, festival-goers: The Boston Calling food and drink lineup is here. The 10th edition of the music festival returns to the Harvard Athletic Complex over Memorial Day Weekend, with the alliterative trio of headliners Twenty-One Pilots, Tame Impala, and Travis Scott. Organizers are bringing back longtime fest-foot favorites like Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Zinnekin’s Waffles, Mikkeller Beer, and the Smoke Shop BBQ, and adding a few new local food options in the mix.

Sweet Cheeks Q is setting up for general-admission ticketholders for the first time this year, not with chef Tiffani Faison’s award-winning barbecue but instead with an awesome-sounding menu of smoked hot chicken Philly cheesesteaks, Oooey Gooey Cheesy nachos, and a Fluffernutter Garbage sundae (!). Elsewhere among the GA food options, find Puritan & Co.’s chef Will Gilson, who is bringing a lineup of sandwiches from the menu of his new, Allston pop-up, Café Beatrice. Two new food trucks are also parking at the festival: Stuffed by Papi will be on hand with sopapillas (Latin American hand pies) like chipotle smoked pork with pineapple pico and hatch green chili aioli slaw; and Boston Trolley Dogs is bringing loaded beef hot dogs.

In the Platinum section, some of Boston’s best-known chefs are elevating the dining experience for exclusive ticketholders. On Friday night, James Beard Award-winning chef Jody Adams is hosting a Saloniki souvlaki sandwich bar, with an assortment of grilled skewers and house-made dips. Toro, Coppa, and Little Donkey co-chef Jamie Bissonnette is in the house on Saturday, with a lettuce wrap station, a foie bratwurst with Japanese flavors, and more globally inspired stoner food. New England cuisine closes things out on Sunday, with Row 34 and Island Creek Oyster Bar chef Jeremy Sewall’s Maine lobster tacos; crispy oyster sliders; smoked salmon with pickles and grilled bread; and roasted chicken with pesto rigatoni.

For the third year, Boston Calling will have a big selection of Mikkeller Beer, with a lineup of internationally celebrated craft brews like Staff Magician New England Pale Ale, and Chill Pils Yuzu Pilsner. Boston Beer Co. again has a robust presence, with Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Sam ’76, and more available at the festival. Wine drinkers get Barefoot. Anyone seeking spirits at Boston Calling should spring for a VIP or Platinum ticket; the VIP section will have bars serving the likes of Ketel One and Bulleit Bourbon. Make sure to stay hydrated: Attendees can bring in a factory-sealed beverage or an empty water bottle, and refill at water stations throughout the campus.
