Rejuvenate Your Look This Season with Boston-Area Treatments and Procedures

In 2022, it’s time for you to step into each season looking your absolute best. Each season is best served with a side of self care and with more outpatient and nonsurgical treatments and procedures available than ever before, long gone are the days of hiding out after getting a little work done. But it’s still important to keep an eye on the calendar. Some procedures require you to avoid a lot of sunlight for a little while, while others are options year round. We’re taking the guesswork out of scheduling with our seasonal calendar for rejuvenating your look.

Spring: March – May

After months sitting inside or trudging through the snow, it’s only natural that most of us may look a little tired by the time winter is over. If you want to enter March with a spring in your step, consider small facial procedures or treatments like Botox or fillers. If you’re self conscious about under-eye bags or wrinkles, you can address those easily—without going under the knife. Fillers and other similar treatments address the deeper tissues that cause the look of bags or wrinkles on the surface, and are quick procedures with little to no downtime. Another option ahead of the summer is CoolSculpting—a non-surgical procedure that targets and freezes fat cells with no downtime.

Summer: June – August

With summer comes sunshine, sweltering beach days on the Cape, and—unfortunately—sweat. While perspiration is a natural part of life, many are uncomfortable discussing issues of excessive sweating—especially on their underarms. But before you reach for the anti-perspirant, you may want to consider a more permanent solution instead: miraDry. In as little as one hour, this non-surgical procedure can eliminate sweat and odor glands in your underarms—painlessly, as a local anesthetic is used. The effects are permanent and immediate, and many people only need one treatment.

Fall: September – November

As the days start getting shorter and the air chillier, in the fall you will also have plenty of time for treatments or procedures that heal best when you’re inside. This could be anything from a face-lifting procedure—like the non-surgical Ultherapy or a surgical eyelid lift—to dental work, such as teeth whitening, dental implants, or veneers. Not only can you perfect your smile right in time for your holiday photos, but dentistry can also help solve common issues like sleep apnea. As there is a chance of swelling or soreness with surgical procedures, taking a few days inside is key to minimizing side effects and maximizing results.

Winter: December – February

Winter is indisputably the best time of year to get any work on your skin done. Most skin and facial treatments or procedures cause temporary sun sensitivity—meaning that catching rays might actually reverse the effects of a treatment. That includes everything from facials to laser hair removal to chemical peels. We all know Boston winter can be tough—make the most of the colder months when you’ll likely be inside more often anyway. Not only will your skin thank you for the extra TLC during the drier months, you’ll also be able to give your skin a healthy glow in time for the spring. Be sure to visit a professional esthetician, plastic surgeon, or medi spa to ensure your skin gets exactly what it needs. A few great treatments to look into are dermaplaning and microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, and microneedling. Each works to reduce fine lines, acne scars, pore size, and sun damage.
