Giving Back: Boston Design Market Partners with Heading Home
The market committee and sponsors teamed up with benefitting partner Heading Home, a nonprofit organization that is working to end homelessness. A staple in the Boston community for more than 40 years, Heading Home provides emergency, transitional, and permanent housing to low-income homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals in the city and surrounding suburbs.
In recognizing the importance of the organization, the BDC is hosting the tabletop event “Heading Home to Dinner,” complete with 25 bar carts and 20 dinner tables created by Boston designers.
Join in the fun for three days of Heading Home events:
Thursday, October 12 – Heading Home to Dinner Cocktail Party Kickoff and New England Design Hall of Fame Inductee Announcements, 5 – 9 p.m. ($50 per ticket)
Friday, October 13 – Heading Home to Dinner Table and Bar Cart Viewing, 12 – 5 p.m. ($20 per ticket)
Saturday, October 14 – Heading Home to Dinner Gala, 7 – 11 p.m. ($250 per ticket)
The Boston Design Market will take place on Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12. Sponsored by Viyet, IvyMark, and BluEdge, the market will offer CEU courses from ASID New England, showroom hosted events, keynote speakers, panel discussions, and pop-up presentations.
The jam-packed itinerary doesn’t disappoint. On Wednesday, October 11, market goers can catch a keynote speech by author and architect Gil Schafer (of G.P. Schafer Architecture & Design) and an Innovators in Design panel discussion with five top movers and shakers in the design world, plus a swanky reception in the new Waterworks showroom.
On Thursday, October 12, designers will hear three commentators discuss the best way to predict changes in interior design and culture in the “trends forecasting” presentation before partaking in the Giving Back panel discussion with industry experts working to make a difference.
The Heading Home to Dinner cocktail party will round out the two-day design fest with the announcement of the 2017 New England Design Hall of Fame Inductees. This is a paid partnership between Boston Design Center and Boston Magazine's City/Studio
