Boston’s newest waterfront hot spot Lovejoy Wharf is hosting a competition with Homepolish to offer three local interior designers the chance to design a beautifully appointed three-bedroom residence at the 15-story condominium property, developed by Related Beal and designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects.
These savvy ladies designed their ideal interior layout through virtual renderings – and you get to vote for your favorite. The lucky winner will have the opportunity to personally piece the room together and see their design come to life at Lovejoy Wharf. An Endicott College graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Sarah Burgess has a true passion for working with people and bringing their visions to life. She loves mixing California cool vibes with her native New England roots, allowing her to combine new and vintage pieces. Her design reflects this with layered rugs and textures, warm and cool tones, and neutral colors. “My main inspiration was the energy of the city; I wanted to create something that will be timeless, while also feeling fresh,” says Burgess. “I knew they would want to have a space to welcome them home after a long day.”
A Los Angeles transplant, Desiree Burns built a reputation in the staging industry, crafting beautiful surroundings with a prideful attention to detail. Now inspired by East Coast living, Burns believes in the power of interior design to transform daily life. The self-described transitional use of modern-earthy materials is showcased in her unit with the fusion of navy, green, grey, and white elements. “I designed for an on-the-go couple in their 40s who like to explore the city,” says Burns. “They are practical, yet enjoy the finer things in life. I wanted the bedroom to be sleek and sexy, yet still cozy. For the living room, it was all about fusing style and comfort.”
Hailing from a small town in Western Massachusetts, Hannah Cushman graduated Endicott College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration. She started her own business Lawless Design (named after her great-grandmother) with her boyfriend, calling the shots on interior design while her partner makes custom woodworking pieces. Her urban loft unit concept comes to life with added greenery for final touches. “The space has great views, and I wanted to maximize on that by keeping with a light, airy feel,” says Cushman. “It’s for someone who enjoys coming home and relaxing with a glass of wine, and just wants to kick their feet up after a long day in the city. I wanted to exhibit a relaxed, modern, loft-like feel.”
