Are you put off by camping because of the large amount of planning and preparing that is required? If the appeal of an oversized backpack and heavy cooler doesn’t make you want to jump at the next possible opportunity to set up in the wilderness, this campout might be just what you’re looking for.

How does an overnight camping trip on Peddocks Island sound? But instead of you trying to wrangle food, transit, and what in the world you’re going to do out there, all of that will be taken care of for you. The overnight is hosted by famed outdoor enthusiasts REI, and the co-op is determined to make the whole camping experience easy and accessible by providing all the things you need. All you have to do is show up with a tent and a sleeping bag. And maybe some bug spray.

At 210 acres, Peddocks is one of the largest and most diverse of the Harbor Islands, with hiking trails, beaches, and historic sites to see, including Fort Andrews, a coastal fort of the late 19th century used through World War II. And since it’s located only eight miles off the coast, the skyline views are pretty special too.

The entire trip price ($99 for members of REI and $119 for non-members) includes a round-trip ferry from Boston Harbor to Peddocks, a spot at the group campsite, and a catered dinner and breakfast, as well as s’mores—because what kind of campout is complete without some toasty ’mallows? REI will offer kayaking, navigation, cooking, yoga, and photography classes as well.

You’ll never be bored, and most importantly, you won’t have to think twice about putting together a long list of activities—it’s all the fun of camping and none of the stress of vacation planning.

$119, August 18-19, Peddocks Island, rei.com.
