Boston Home Spring 2010: Threshold: Classic Beauty

ARTIST SHERRIE WOLF mastered the techniques of the masters by meticulously painting flora and fauna in her Portland, Oregon, studio. But gradually she began to introduce modern artifice into these traditional still lifes. Her most recent work, on display at Newbury Street’s Arden Gallery through March, sets three-dimensional objects against historical paintings, challenging the viewer’s assumptions about time and space. “Quince with Cockatoo,” 20 by 16 inches, $3,300.
