Sara Kovel Events is a full service design and event planning company. We specialize in luxury weddings, destination weddings and events and celebrations big and small. “My goal is to understand my clients - their wishes, personalities, dynamic as a couple, and their style - and turn it into an event that tells their story. It's important to me that my clients and their guests feel cared for, and I strive to be generous with my time and resources.”

Event Planning & Design.
Sara grew up working in the hospitality industry in the Berkshires. After attending college she began her career at the Breakers in Palm Beach where she started as a banquet supervisor learning the ins and outs of the inner workings and nuisances of luxury events and quickly worked her way up to a catering manager. After relocating back to the Northeast to be closer to home, Sara worked in NYC for Abigail Kirsch Catering and eventually landed at the Four Seasons Boston where she spent 6 years as a catering manager planning weddings and non-profit events for the 5 star property. In 2011 William and Sara opened Catalyst Restaurant, one of the pioneer restaurants and event venues in Technology Square near the MIT Campus in Cambridge Massachusetts. Sara Kovel Events was founded in 2015.
We begin with a complimentary consultation with you so we can get to know each other and determine that we are a good fit to work together. We take only a limited number of projects a year to preserve the quality of our client experience; therefore, this process is crucial to us. Should we both decide to move forward, we will draw up our agreement outlining our process and pricing structure tailored to your needs.
As soon as we receive the signed agreement and retainer from you we begin planning and designing your event right away. You will complete our tailored design survey so we can understand the scope of your event and determine your event goals and challenges while we initiate the design process. We then begin meeting with our team of vendors to develop tailored proposals supporting the overall vision and event goals.
We create a design plan no later than 4 months prior to your event date. Also at this time we review with you each line item of the proposed budget, and detail all design proposals and event contracts for your approval. Transparency and honesty is paramount to our relationship with you so each proposal and contract that you receive is directly from your creative vendors (floral designer, rental company, lighting company etc). Four months from your event date, you will approve the design plan and proposed budget and we will enter into production. At this time you will sign any remaining vendor contracts, remit deposits to each creative vendor. As production is under way, we place orders and finalize proposals with your selections made during the design presentation. Your team of vendors reserves inventory and builds custom installations drawn up in the design phase.
Approximately two months prior to your event our team creates and distributes a detailed production schedule timeline to each member of your creative team and we draft a thorough, by–the-minute run of show. We also troubleshoot logistics and secure any necessary permitting and security for your event at this time.
And finally, we, of course, will be on-site overseeing all logistics and timing of the day.
First and foremost my advice is to work with a planner who has plenty of experience and a deep network of vendors that they regularly work with. Ensuring you are a good fit personality-wise is also important. Planning an event or wedding should be enjoyable! You will spend a lot of time together so having fun along the way helps. I also urge you to trust your professional. They do this for a living and if they are experienced, they know the nuisances of each vendor, venue and situation. Do not micromanage the process.
Growing up in a magical setting like the Berkshires, tourism is a large part of the local industry so many kids start off working in hotels, country clubs and restaurant and Sara was no exception. After college she took a leap and moved to the Palm Beach area to work at the Breakers. It was intimidating but inspiring working with the best in the events industry on break-taking weddings and events.
We love destination weddings. Particularly The Berkshires, Palm Beach and Savannah.
A bride and groom recently tearfully thanked me at the end of the evening in their speech in front of all of their guests. It was incredibly rewarding and touching to know that we helped them achieve the wedding of their dreams while navigating some tricky family dynamics.
Sara has experience as both a planner and designer as well as years of experience as a banquet manager and catering manager which.
From a budgeting perspective, our services generally fit best into budgets $150,000 with an average guest count of 150, although we welcome celebrations of all shapes and sizes.

My daughter works in PR and I am uber organized....we didn't need a wedding planner!! That was my thought until I spent too many sleepless nights wondering how I was going to pull off the wedding of my daughter's dreams. From the moment I met Sara I loved everything about her. She is professional, kind, organized, and somehow, knew what we wanted even before we did! She stepped in and seamlessly orchestrated our hopes and dreams. With a wedding party of 24+, she and her team were in 3 and sometimes 4 places at once and had many "to dos" on their lists. She was a calming influence as we knew everything was under control and everything went as planned. It was perfect. She is perfect. The best part may have been that many guests didn't even know she was there - no walkie talkie, no fan fare, just quietly in control. Sara, I just love you!

Sara had planned a wonderful, beautiful, magical Boston wedding for my older sister in the span of just three months. So when it came time to plan my wedding that was 9 months away (so much time right?), it was an easy decision to turn to her. Sara knows all the best vendors in the Boston area. You know you can trust any vendor she recommends to deliver for you. In addition, Sara's day of event management services are spectacular. As the bride, you don't have to worry at all, because she or one of her assistants is on top of everything. My wedding day ran so seamlessly, and it is my favorite day full of wonderful moments I'll remember for a lifetime, and Sara was a big part of making it so special.

I cannot say enough good things about Sara. She helped me with my destination wedding this past summer. The location is very remote – think of no cell phone service and an hour and a half to the closest big "town”, and Sara never batted an eye. From her detailed organization, eye for design, and ability to listen to the bride and groom’s wishes, Sara made our big day feel effortless. It seriously takes an army to plan and orchestrate a wedding and I never once thought the job was too big for Sara. To this day, everyone still talks about how fabulous our wedding day was. It is a true testament that the groom and I could not have asked for anything different for our wedding. Sara made sure that we were relaxed, stayed in the moment, and truly enjoyed ourselves; she took care of all the details so that our entire family could do the same. She was always accessible and prompt in getting back to us to answer questions or address concerns. I would highly recommend Sara and her team without any hesitation!
