Bostonista Travels: Tulum, Mexico

1215785895For our honeymoon, my hubby and I wanted a trip that offered secluded beaches, luxury accommodations, and plenty of excursions off the resort. After watching a special on the Travel channel, we booked a week to Tulum, Mexico. It ended up being the best vacation we had ever taken (as it should be).

Once we landed in Cancun, a shuttle took us to Dreams Tulum, our four-star all-inclusive resort two hours south of Cancun. Upon entering the resort, our bags were whisked away while we sipped champagne at the front desk and checked in. That’s the way to start it off right!

The resort was incredible with its palatial hacienda, contemporary architecture, and all-marble interior. There were seven different restaurants, and the all-inclusive room service came in handy for those mornings we wanted a romantic breakfast in bed.

We signed up for an excursion called Tulum Xtreme, which included a trip to the Mayan village and a tour of the archaeological site. Next, we went snorkeling in the cenotes, underground rivers surrounded by stalagmites and stalactites. The pool was ice cold, but we welcomed the plunge into the deep. Adventures, to be sure, and we spent the rest of the trip by the beach with pina coladas in hand.
