Jenna Lashley may have declined to give Ron Adams her phone number the night they met at the Druid, in Cambridge, but she did share something equally valuable: her Twitter handle. A few days later, when Ron saw Jenna’s tweet that she was drinking a pint of Allagash White at Bukowski Tavern, he managed to “accidentally” bump into her there. “It was an engineered coincidence,” Ron remembers.
The couple’s meet-cute may have been straight out of the digital age, but their engagement three and a half years later was decidedly analog. Ron, an avid hiker, spent two weeks in the basement storage unit of their Somerville apartment crafting a trail sign that said, “Jenna, will you marry me?” and proposed to her atop Monument Mountain in Great Barrington. “She was speechless for a few seconds,” Ron says, but quickly accepted.
For their wedding day, the pair decided to focus on their mutual love for food and cocktails. They had initially booked UpStairs on the Square for the reception, but when the storied Cambridge restaurant closed the January before their big day, they turned to a swanky plan B: Barbara Lynch’s fine-dining spot Menton, located in Fort Point. While the elegantly plated cuisine and service was, of course, top-notch, it was the intimate gathering of beloved friends and family who came to town for the nuptials that made the night special. “The food was amazing, but honestly, [the highlight] was being able to spend time with everyone that I knew and loved,” Ron says.
Jenna asked each attendant to choose a dress in a soft color palette. “I wanted to make sure people didn’t have to spend a lot of money on the dress—that they could wear something they felt beautiful in, and comfortable in their own skin,” she says.
Jenna’s “something old” was a watch purchased by her grandmother in Switzerland, also worn by Jenna’s mother on her wedding day.
For the ceremony, Jenna and Ron booked the gazebo at the Boston Harbor Hotel, which boasted picturesque water vistas.
To combat the sweltering July heat, the couple provided guests with wooden fans and refreshing fruit-infused water.
Jenna chose earrings from online retailer Chloe + Isabel for her bridesmaids.
After dinner, friends and family showed off their moves on the dance floor.
While the rest of the guests took a trolley from the ceremony to the reception at Menton, Ron and Jenna walked, scoring a bit of alone time—and fabulous photo ops—between the two events.
The menu included tuna crudo, heirloom tomato salad with burrata, and prime beef sirloin with pearl onions.
