Get ready to blow the basic groomsmen golf outing out of the water.

Keep the Catch Lobster Excursions at Battery Wharf Hotel on the Boston Waterfront are once-in-a-lifetime boat excursions that are a great way to hang with your wedding party.

You’ll head out on an authentic lobster boat aptly named the Sixpence—an ironic nod to the tradition of a bride carrying a sixpence in her shoe—for a two-and-a-half-hour tour around the Boston Harbor. Once you get to a prime location, Captain Fred of Two Buoys Lobster will teach you how to bait, drop, and haul in lobster traps. In between how-to sessions, you and your other fledgling first mates can enjoy the sighs and sounds of the bustling harbor and learn more about its great history.

Finally, after a day at sea, you and the crew return to Aragosta restaurant, where the chef will prepare your lobster bakes and serve them over outdoor fire pits.

The boat leaves from the hotel every Saturday at 1 p.m., and this event runs through September—fingers crossed, there are talks of running longer. The Sixpence accommodates a maximum of six guests per excursion, so you could book for your entire groom party or just keep it with your Best Man for a one-on-one. Dinner reservations are required at time of booking; choose either a 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. dinner time slot.

$60 per person for boat ride, $45 per person for lobster bake. For reservations, call 617-994-9016.
