Real Wedding: David Cantu & Lauren Bevilacqua

Draw inspiration from their stylish celebration.

THE STORY

For Lauren Bevilacqua and David Cantú, it’s always been all about family. Hours after David popped the question while he and his bride-to-be watched the sunrise over Marconi Beach one summer morning, the Charlestown couple shared the news with Lauren’s relatives. “I have a big Italian family, and we all have Cape houses in the same neighborhood,” she says. “When we showed up to the beach that morning, we surprised everyone with our announcement and the entire beach congratulated us because my aunts and uncles are all loud and made a big fuss about it.”

As the couple planned their Dennis Inn nuptials, they worked to include elements of their shared Italian roots, as well as David’s Mexican heritage, into the look and feel of the big day. Lauren, a graphic designer, dreamed up a stationery suite with phrases in English, Italian, and Spanish. After the ceremony, the couple pointed guests to their tables with handpainted tiles from Cantú Azulejos, a company owned by David’s family, and performed a mix of traditional rumba and choreographed bachata for their first dance. And in lieu of a champagne toast, Lauren’s father and uncles led guests in an Italian song followed by glasses of limoncello. “The fact that the day had so many pieces from our cultures was just so cool,” David says. “It was about our families coming together and celebrating. It was hands-down the best day of my life.”

Gold-rimmed glasses and organic centerpieces featuring air plants and anemones gave the tablescapes an “Italian antique mixed with coastal chic” vibe, Lauren explains.
