Don’t be fooled by the immaculate nine-hole golf course: The Causeway Club, in Southwest Harbor, is so much more than a pretty place to practice your swing. Set next to an idyllic stone causeway you can walk across, the country club provides a blank canvas for every type of wedding—from intimate dinners in its 100-year-old function hall to large-scale tented affairs on the manicured lawn. Say “I do” at the Charlotte Rhoades Park and Butterfly Garden, a botanical preserve located a third of a mile from the club, then escort your guests to the hall for cocktails on the deck, where you can watch boaters ply the waters of the bay.

RUSTIC REVELRY

David’s Folly Farm
Head CountUp to 150 seated
Price Starting at $6,500, plus food and drink

If rustic and rural is more your speed, David’s Folly Farm in Brooksville offers a magical, pastoral vibe, complete with sweeping fields and a path to the ocean. The main attraction, though, is the property’s historical barn, lovingly restored with a built-in bar, burlap accents, and a large kitchen your caterer will love. Owners Emma and John Altman work with couples to create weddings of all stripes, from a simple afternoon ceremony and luncheon to an epic country-chic bash with music and dancing well into the night. Dress up the space with your choice of rentals, or draw from the venue’s own arsenal of wedding-day accoutrements: You’ll have access to tables made from the farm’s cedar trees, vintage dishware, chic sheepskin rugs, and Mason jar candleholders. And did we mention the farm’s baby animals? You’ll want to pay them a visit, too.

THE CHECKLIST

Rehearsal Dinner
Choose from an array of gourmet pies—such as Sea Smoke (smoked Maine shellfish, puttanesca sauce, and fresh mozzarella) or Roasted Goat (roasted vegetables and goat cheese)—at Blue Hill’s Barncastle, a lively local spot where you can gather up to 30 guests for a private meal.

Guest Digs
A welcome departure from the summertime buzz of downtown Bar Harbor, the secluded Balance Rock Inn soothes with ultra-soft Comphy Company linens, whirlpool tubs, and private porches.
