Dr. Calvillo is a board-certified breast surgeon and instructor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. She specializes in both benign and malignant breast surgery, including breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy) with and without absorbable implants, mastectomy with or without immediate reconstruction, preventative mastectomy for high risk patients, nipple-sparing mastectomy, and discussing de-escalation of breast cancer treatment (minimizing over-treatment) when appropriate. Dr. Calvillo's philosophy is delivering patient-centered care where the patient is an integral part of the team. Her goal is to educate patients so that each patient may make the most well-informed decision for themselves.

Dr. Katherina Zabicki Calvillo is a breast surgeon at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and an instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. Calvillo is based at the Breast Care Center at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center at South Shore Hospital and operates at South Shore Hospital and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.
Dr. Calvillo graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan and medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, followed by the HMS Partners Cancer Care Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, BWH and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is board certified in general surgery.
She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and serves as an ad hoc peer reviewer for the American Journal of Surgery, Breast Cancer Research and Treatment and Annals of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Calvillo has been invited to present at national and international cancer symposiums. Dr. Calvillo was elected to serve as the Program Chair for the American Society of Breast Surgeons 21st Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. She also serves on the Publications Committee for the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Breast Committee for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.
