How to Connect to the Drive from the Office

To connect to the drive at the office (PC)

If you are on a company-issued PC with a Mapped Drive “I” drive, you can open this as usual.
Otherwise, go to the start button and type in the IP address of the server.
IP address (e.g. Philly: \\10.20.30.250 or Boston: \\192.168.2.18)

To connect to the drive at the office (Mac)

  1. Go to your FINDER
  2. Select GO (or press the COMMAND KEY + “K”) to connect to a server
  3. Type in — Philly: afp:\\10.20.30.250 or Boston: \\192.168.2.18
  4. Log in with your network username and password. Your user name is always the first initial of your first name + last name (e.g. hmitus, not Heather Mitus)

Remote access (PC)

  1. Get the new NetExtender client from CMIT Help Desk (phone: 866.520.6414)
    NetExtender.7.0.203
  2. Copy this to your PC’s desktop and run it
  3. Once the Client is installed, launch it
  4. Fill in the prompts as follows
    Boston Server: portal.bostonmag.net:4433 or Philly Server: phillymag.net:4433
    Username: first initial + last name (same as your network/email username)
    Password: (usual)
    Boston Domain: LocalDomain (note: capital L, capital D) or Philly Domain: metrocorp.local
  5. When you connect, a box will appear that says “Connected IP Address” (see screenshot below)

Remote access (Mac)

  1. Go to the Apple App Store
  2. Search for “SonicWALL Mobile Connect”
  3. If you have an Apple ID, you can use your own. If not, use “dshimberg@phillymag.com” with password “A0425pple”. Install the app (it’s free).
  4. Once it is loaded, click on ADD a CONNECTION.
    Name it Boston magazine or Philly magazine.
    Enter this address: portal.bostonmag.net:4433 or portal.phillymag.net:4433.
    Username: first initial + last name (same as your network/email username)
    Password: This should be your network password (typically Initial+start date+last initial). If you don’t remember, PLEASE CALL DAN SHIMBERG AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
    Boston Domain: LocalDomain (note: capital L, capital D) or Philly Domain: metrocorp.local
  5. Once connected, go to your finder and connect to server apf:\\192.168.2.18
