This just in: chef duo Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier, of Top Chef: Masters fame and The Arrows restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine, will be making a play for the Seaport with MC Medici Ristorante & Bar, an Italian restaurant that will be replacing 606 Congress in the Renaissance Hotel this fall.  The concept is inspired by the Italian Renaissance (which we have a feeling has something to do with the hotel its housed in), but what this connotes, exactly, we are not quite sure. We do know, though, that the cuisine will be largely inspired by the duo’s travels through Bologna, Venice, and Florence, and will have a rather ornate, traditional decor.

With 606 Congress closing, we wondered what this would mean for chef Rich Garcia, who has been influential locally in his commitment to the responsible sourcing and use of local seafood. Per MC Medici’s PR, Garcia will be transitioning into overseeing the overall culinary operations at the Renaissance Hotel.

As we learn more about the restaurant, we’ll keep you posted.
