Boston Calling returned for the sixth time this weekend, bringing thousands to City Hall Plaza for a final hurrah to summer with its now-trademark, three-day, 23-act festival.

Friday night offered an ode to folk, kicking the festival off with a performance by singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov. Boston Calling alumni Of Monsters and Men, who performed at the inaugural edition in May 2013, took the stage next. The Avett Brothers, who stopped by Boston Children’s Hospital earlier in the day, closed out Day 1.

Saturday brought a more upbeat energy, with performances by alt-J, Chvrches, Chromeo, Walk the Moon, Father John Misty, and more.

On Sunday, Hozier, Ben Howard, Nate Ruess, and more performed, and Alabama Shakes closed out the festival under a Supermoon lunar eclipse.
