Bob Socci Is the New Voice of the Patriots

So what does he sound like?

The Patriots have a new radio play-by-play announcer. On Wednesday, the team announced the hiring of Bob Socci. He’ll replace the recently retired Gil Santos and will be paired with color man Scott Zolak. Socci’s broadcast resume is diverse. He’s called Navy football games, Patriot League basketball games, and is currently in his second year as part of the Pawtucket Red Sox’ broadcast team. (He’s reportedly supposed to leave that position before football season.)

The big question for us is: what does he sound like? If his call of Navy’s dramatic triple-overtime upset of Notre Dame from 2007 is any indication, he’ll be a worthy successor to Santos. He certainly doesn’t appear to be lacking emotion. For Patriots fans, that’s a good thing. Take a listen to Socci’s pipes:
