Table Talk + This Week's Edible Events

The Sox are on an All-Star break but you’ll still find a few players at Fenway this week: Chefs Michael Schlow (top, Tico) and Geoffrey Zakarian (The Lambs Club in New York) are partnering up with Gilt City to stage a week-long pop-up restaurant in the stadium this week. For $200, you can sip cocktails atop the Green Monster, then enjoy dinner with about 30 others inside the Double Suites. The two chefs, who are longtime friends, created a menu focused on what’s in season: hors d’oeuvres like green gazpacho and spicy tuna tartare will be followed by calamari salad, butter-poached lobster, and spice-crusted lamb.

As for how two chefs with questionable allegiances (Schlow grew up in New Jersey) decided to put up a restaurant in Red Sox territory, Schlow explains: “Fenway is one of the most iconic and beloved spots in Boston. When we were offered the opportunity, we naturally jumped at the chance. ” Zakarian, who admits he isn’t much of a sports fan (“I play golf,” he told us) did grow up outside of Boston and says, “I can respect just how important Fenway is to the city.”

Whatever their loyalties, we, like most food-loving baseball fans out there think a special occasion splurge like this ought to be a home run.

July 12-15; $200 per person. Tickets available at giltcity.com/boston.
