The Gisele effect is real, everybody. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released its annual plastic surgery trends report, and found that butt lifts and butt implants are on the rise.

“The thing that’s really captured the imagination is the Brazilian butt lift,” says plastic surgeon Leonard Miller, founder of the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation. “It’s usually a combination of lifting the sagging buttocks and doing fat injections. That appeals to quite a lot of people.”

According to the report, surgeons performed 36 percent more butt lifts and butt implants in 2015 than they did in 2014, and 28 percent more butt augmentations. The report also found that thigh lifts, breast lifts, and arm lifts are way up since 2000.

Miller says upper and lower body lifts are most common for those who have lost a lot of weight, but says some opt for them after a minor weight loss or just because of the normal course of aging. Be warned, though—the operations aren’t always your one-way ticket to a supermodel body and a certain football-playing husband, though they can be a good option for those with serious sagging or excess skin.

“The major thing to consider is bad scars, which may be noticeable. Your scars can spread or they can get thick,” Miller explains. “In the beginning you think it’s great, but then the tissues spread and you don’t always keep a tight appearance. It doesn’t always hold firmly.”

While our butt-obsessed culture is spreading to the surgery realm, rear-focused operations still pale in popularity to many procedures. The report says the top five procedures in 2015 were breast augmentation, liposuction, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, and tummy tucks. Last year also marked the first time men accounted for more than 40 percent of breast reduction surgeries.
