Amy Schumer Accused of Stealing Boston Comic’s Jokes

The Trainwreck star calls the accusations 'crazy.'

Amy Schumer is fighting off allegations that she lifted jokes for her latest HBO special, Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo.

After being hounded at an airport by TMZ on Tuesday, the comedian addressed claims that she stole jokes from late, Boston-bred comic Patrice O’Neal.

“I would never take anyone’s joke,” Schumer said. “I would never do that.”

The Inside Amy Schumer star is accused of stealing jokes about imaginary sex moves, which seem to be similar to a bit O’Neal had performed during his career. Schumer, who was a close friend of the former Roxbury resident, doesn’t see any merit to the claims.

O’Neal’s fiancée, Von Decarlo, even penned a letter defending Schumer, saying that the Boston-bred comic learned the jokes while performing on college campuses.

O’Neal, who was a football star at West Roxbury High School before starting his comedy career in Boston, passed away in 2011 after suffering a massive stroke.
