Hey, Remember Us?

1192460402Tonight in beautiful Blacksburg, Va. Boston College will try to keep its undefeated season alive, as well as its improbable run to the national championship. Whether you’re a BC alum, or even if you’re a BC hater, you have to feel for the kids on the team who should be basking in the spotlight tonight.

While there is nothing BC can do about competing with the Red Sox for viewers and interest tonight, the Eagles have tended to be its own worst enemy in these situations over the years. If you’ve followed BC over the last few years, you are well aware that this is the moment when the Eagles, tend to well, come up short. There is reason to believe that tonight can be a turning point game for BC, however.

For starters, while Virginia Tech has been ridiculously good on Thursday Night over the years, BC crushed the Hokies, 22-3 last year on a Thursday night. Second, Va. Tech has had a similar issue with not playing well in heavily-hyped games. Finally, BC has perhaps the best quarterback in all of college football in Matt Ryan, an engaging kid who has already graduated, and will likely be a No. 1 draft choice in April.

The game kicks off at 7:30 (which will probably mean 7:45) on ESPN, so there’s time to give BC some of your undivided attention before clicking over to the Sox. What, you’d rather watch Butch Stearns?
