Legendary director and comedy icon Mel Brooks will make a rare appearance in Boston this fall.

The mastermind behind such timeless classics as The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs is coming to town for a screening of one his most beloved flicks, Blazing Saddles.

The comedy western, starring Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little, will be shown at the Citi Wang Theatre on Saturday, October 22. Blazing Saddles was a groundbreaking film when it came out in 1974, as it took shots at racism in Hollywood by being one of the first interracial buddy comedies.

“There is no movie ever made in America that’s as funny as Blazing Saddles,” Brooks said in an interview with HitFix in 2014. “It’s by far the number one.”

Following the the screening, Brooks will host a Q&A session with fans, who will get a chance to ask the famed director, writer, and actor all the burning questions they have about his storied career. And at 90 years young, you can be sure that the former Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner has plenty of wild stories to share.

The ‘Blazing Saddles’ screening with Mel Brooks comes to the Citi Wang Theatre on Saturday, October 22, at 2 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 12, at 10 a.m. For more information, check out citicenter.org.
