48 Hours of Freedom

It’s the weekend. You can spend it in front of your shrine to Tom Brady, or you can have faith he’ll lead the team to victory and enjoy it. Here are some suggestions for your precious two days of total freedom, prepared for you by Boston Daily.

Tonight
For a few glorious months, wine lovers can enjoy the Boston Wine Festival 2008. The event, which opens with a reception tonight, features wine from around the world and several dinners during its run at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

St. Patrick’s Day has the reputation as the day when we honor all things Irish, but we’re usually too drunk to reflect on the culture. Save the drinking for March, and celebrate the music of Ireland at this weekend’s Celtic Music Fest.

Even those of you with two left feet can enjoy TangoFire. The show brings together some of Argentina’s most talented tango dancers to perform the sexy dance.

Instead of having beer as your post-work Friday drink, upgrade to champagne. Bubbly Bar Fridays at Aujourd’hui features several sparkling wines to help you ease into your weekend.

Saturday
If you’ve been ruing the lack of leather fringe in your life, you’re in luck. The Professional Bull Riders are in town for the Worcester Classic. Add some extra fun by counting how many mullets you see during the competition.

We don’t know how we’re going to make it until spring training begins. Thankfully, we can get a baseball fix while helping a good cause. New Stars for Young Stars III brings Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, and Gabe Kapler together for an autograph signing to benefit the Jimmy Fund.

If you’ll be too busy worrying that the Patriots’ 16-0 season will be eclipsed by a loss to Jacksonville on Saturday to cook, Chez Henri can help. The Cambridge restaurant’s chef and owner, Paul O’Connell, presents “Tailgate To Go,” a menu of tasty snacks you can enjoy at home or in front of Chez Henri’s 50-inch television.

Perhaps some chocolate will soothe your game day nerves. The One and Only Boston Chocolate Tour brings chocolate-lovers around the city in an Old Town Trolley to sample desserts from favorite haunts like the Omni Parker House and the Langham Hotel.

Sunday
Sometimes, even we get bored with watching the Food Network. Get some in-person culinary instruction at Celebrity Chefs Culinary Program at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

Summer will be here before you know it. Make sure you’ve got the sweetest yacht in the harbor at the New England Boat Show.

Brides-to-be have a couple of options today. The Wedding Day Exposition is being held in Andover and the Southern New England Bridal Expo is in Providence. We’d say don’t attempt to do both, but we know brides are good at doing a lot in a day.

Have you been kicking yourself for not going to yoga class? Get inspired to get flexible by watching the Golden Dragon Acrobats.
