Menino Has a Funky Way of Waving Hello

We don’t mean to nitpick here, but we’re pretty entertained with Mayor Menino’s greeting in this YouTube video welcoming college students to the city. Just watch the first second. (Well, you can watch further if you like.)

If you’re like us, you hit replay a couple times. What is he doing as he says, “Hi!”? Casting a spell? Shooting craps? Throwing a Pokeball? The world may never know. At any rate, the video features the Mayor introducing himself to a new crop of out-of-towners, so we suppose it’s an inevitable, if very punctuated intro to those unfamiliar with their new leader.
