How Much Did Warren Outperform Coakley?

A lot.

In the post-election breakdown, my colleague Jason Schwartz astutely noted that Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren's ground team played a much stronger game than Martha Coakley's had in the 2010 special election, drawing more minority voters to the polls and increasing voter turnout overall (the fact that it was a presidential election year certainly helped). But in case you need a visual, the blog Mass. Numbers has worked up this map, below. It's color coded to show Coakley's percentage of the vote subtracted from the votes Warren obtained. The whiter areas are where Coakley outdid Warren, and the darker the blue, the more Warren thumped Coakley during her round at the polls.

There are a few spaces of white, but the takeaway, in general? That's a lot of blue.
