10/12: Tiki Night and Polynesian Pig Roast at Franklin Café in South Boston

If you thought you’d been to your last patio party of year, you might be wrong. On Wednesday, October 12, Franklin Café will host a Tiki Drink Patio Party, complete with Polynesian music and Brugal Rum tiki cocktails for $5. Pair your summery drinks with luau-themed snacks off the bar menu (So what if it’s chilly out? Fake it.), then stick around for a Polynesian pig roast in the dining area, which includes two specialty Brugal tiki cocktails. 10/14 & 11/4: ‘What’s Cooking: Chef Series’ at Wrentham Village Premium Outlets

Learn to whip up some exciting new fall dishes at the ‘What’s Cooking: Chef Series’, featuring recipes, preparation tips, and cooking demos. On Friday, October 14, discover more uses for beer as Chef Paul, of Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, and Sam Adams brewer Grant Wood use beer as a key ingredient in unique, tasty concoctions. Later, on November 4, meet Whole Foods Market master butchers as they create delicious, seasonal dishes using meat from animals raised on a pure vegetarian diet. Sat. 10/15-Sun. 10/16: Hogtoberfest at American Seasons Nantucket

If you’re looking for an excuse to pig out, head to Nantucket on October 15-16 for the third annual Hogtoberfest. This year will feature pork masters and Chefs Michael LaScola, of Nantucket’s American Seasons, and Matt Jennings, of Providence’s The Farmstead and La Laiterie. Using hand-raised Berkshire-Tamworth pigs from Nantucket’s Faraway Farm, the two experienced chefs will offer a butchering and preparation course on Saturday, followed by a delicious ‘All Things Pork’ dinner paired with pork-inspired cocktails and selections from American Seasons’ hefty wine list. And on Sunday, “swine” and dine at the ‘Ode to Pig’ Dinner, again cooked up by LaScola and Jennings.
