Details on the Second Annual Sandwich Face-Off at Chez Henri

In honor of National Sandwich Day on November 3, All Star Sandwich Bar, Chez Henri, and Roxy's Grilled Cheese will be duking it out for sandwich supremacy.

In honor of National Sandwich Day last year, French-Cuban bistro Chez Henri and grilled cheese food truck Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese faced off at Chez Henri with a three-course competitive feast (with Roxy’s winning the ultimate bragging rights). This year they’re at it again, but they’ve ratcheted the competition up a notch, with a third challenger: the Atomic Meatloaf Meltdown masters at All Star Sandwich Bar.

The event this year is taking place on November 3 at Chez Henri, and we’ve been told that the Cambridge restaurant is opening early (with seatings at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) in order to accommodate as many sandwich fiends as possible. Reserve tickets here.

STARTERS (choice of):
All-Star: Crostini with roasted eggplant puree, sheep’s milk feta, spicy pickled apricots, micro herbs, EVOO
Roxy’s: Duck corn dogs with sour cherry gastrique and roasted acorn squash
Chez Henri: Traditional “mini” French onion soup, with garlic crouton and stringy Gruyere

CARNIVORE ENTREE (includes one each of the following):
All-Star: Buttermilk and cornmeal-fried bay scallops with shaved endive, fresh cucumber mango relish and avocado crema on a buttered and grilled brioche torpedo roll
Roxy’s: Mighty rib melt (2011 Sandwich Day winner) with fontina, braised short rib, and caramelized onion
Chez Henri: Grilled Cuban sandwich with slow roasted pork, ham, Gruyere, cornichon and chipotle aioli

VEGETARIAN ENTREE (includes one each of the following):
All-Star: Smoked mushroom and jackfruit “VEGGIEloaf” with sharp cheddar, red fresno chile slaw and mustard BBQ sauce on grilled brioche roll
Roxy’s: Roasted curried vegetable mac and cheese
Chez Henri: Veggie Cuban with grilled vegetables

DESSERT (choice of):
AllStar: Bourbon-pecan cheesecake “sandwiched” between two chocolate chip cookies, and drizzled with warm chocolate sauce
Roxy’s: Apple-pumpkin bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and root beer glaze
Chez Henri: Chocolate torte with guava Caramel and habanero peanut brittle
