Maybe We’ll Stick with the Cod


1212161637There’s few things that scream summer in New England than a nice lobster dinner, or perhaps a delicious lobster roll for lunch. We’ll take those sea bugs any way we can get them.

We were saddened to learn that James Hook & Co. was destroyed in a fire early this morning. But we’re also worried about how this will affect the quest for our weekend lobster fix.

If the loss of a fish wholesaler is like losing an oil refinery, we’re guessing the “market price” on our lazy man’s lobster just jumped more than the price of the gas we need to drive to our supper.

The blaze devoured 60,000 pounds of lobster, which was valued at up to $9 a pound.

For those of you who don’t have a calculator handy, that’s $540,000 in lost crustaceans alone, never mind the loss of the historical building. Great. Now we’re so upset we’ve lost our appetite.
