48 Hours of Freedom
It’s the weekend. You can spend it mourning the loss of Asante Samuel, or you pull your jersey out of the fire and enjoy it. Here are some suggestions for your precious two days of total freedom, prepared for you by Boston Daily.
Tonight
Don’t lie. We know you’ve got “Pieces of Me” on your iPod. Decide if you like Ashlee Simpson’s latest effort as she makes an appearance at Gypsy Bar tonight.
We haven’t been fans of pink since we begged our mother to let us paint our bedroom walls a shade of Pepto-Bismol, but the Hot Pink Panther Party has us reconsidering. The event kicks off Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month with DJ Rick Rude, a silent auction, and the Kiss Me Lingerie Pink Panther Girls.
Leap year: Awesome, or not? Before you answer, consider the fact that the Union Bar and Grille offers a 3-course meal for $29 to celebrate the extra day.
If you see people hobbling around Princeton tomorrow, it’s probably the brave skiers who participated in Wachusett Mountain’s 24-Hour Ski or Ride. If you ride the slopes to raise money for Champions for Children, your lift ticket is free from 10 p.m-8 a.m.
Saturday
If 24 hours on a mountain is too much for you to handle, you can always enjoy breathtaking vistas while eating popcorn. The Alps Film brings the majesty of nature to couch potatoes.
Salem has more to it than witches. The Salem Film Festival features documentaries and short films from around the world.
We’ve got a sudden urge for pudding. Bill Cosby brings his family-friendly routine to the Opera House. Let’s hope he also brings some Jell-O.
Our prom dress was from Hot Topic. Please don’t make the same mistake, girls. The Prom Gown Event at Filene’s Basement gives you access to department and specialty store dresses at a fraction of the price. Check the listing for locations, since not all stores are holding the event.
Sunday
Boston magazine is all about homes this month. Whether you’re just looking into neighborhoods or are ready to decorate your new pad, get even more information at the New England Home Show.
The Celtics season ticket holders are now justified in holding on to their seats during the laughably bad years. Show them up by attending the Shamrock Shootout. Your $5,000 donation allows you and four of your friends to shoot baskets from around the Garden parquet to win fabulous prizes.

Light and dance makes us nervous—it gives us flashbacks to those raves we went to in the 90s. But we’re pretty sure Aurora Borealis 6: A Festival of Light and Dance won’t bring out the glow sticks. The show features original dance and movement pieces by student and faculty choreographers.
