Get Your Green On

1205175779We have a love-hate relationship with St. Patrick’s Day. While we warmly embrace any holiday that’s all about drink and men in kilts, the amateurs who can’t handle their liquor ruin it for everyone. So to enhance the experience, we’ll review how to enjoy your holiday without pissing us off safely.

Last week, we talked to Guinness Brewmaster Fergal Murray. He told us the proper way to drink the stout, and he wants to make St. Patrick’s Day a national American holiday. We really like him.

Also on our list of new best friends is the Cambridge Licensee Advisory Board, which is providing free cab rides on Saturday and Sunday night. All you have to do is leave any Cambridge bar and head for any residential address. (And please tip your driver.)

The MBTA has also added extra train service to accommodate Sunday’s parade in South Boston. Some bus routes around the parade route will also be affected.

Mayor Tom Menino warned that shenanigans will not be tolerated.

“We will not allow a few excessive revelers to ruin the festivities for those individuals celebrating responsibly,” according to a joint statement released today by Menino and Commissioner Edward F. Davis.

So play nice, amateurs.
