The Globe Names New Names Columnist

1213727570It’s been a busy few weeks for Globe columnist Mark Shanahan. After longtime gossip writer Carol Beggy took the buyout back in April, he’d been trying to keep tabs on the local celebrity scene on his own.

Today, we’ve learned that the paper of record has hired another Names writer. Paysha Stockton Rhone will join the team on June 26.

Fiona Luis, assistant managing editor for Living/Arts, tells Boston Daily she’s delighted to have the longtime Globe freelancer as a permanent employee.

“We’re tremendously excited,” Luis gushed. “She’s very qualified, and is the right fit with Mark Shanahan.”

Rhone freelanced for the paper on and off for the past four years, and has covered Boston’s celebrity scene for People magazine’s website, getting Josh Groban’s theory on how John Mayer lands hot chicks and Jennifer Garner’s thoughts on having another baby with Ben Affleck.

Welcome, Paysha. We can truly never get enough celebrity coverage.
