The Most Lewd-Sounding Town in Massachusetts Is…

Real estate listing site Estately designated the most lewd-sounding towns in each of the 50 states, and honestly, New England got a raw deal.
Felchville was named the most dubiously dubbed hamlet in Massachusetts. Though named after the Felch brothers who owned a mill there, the town’s name evokes the act of “felching.” (You can look that up yourself, far away from your work computer.) It’s a curious choice, especially given Cummington, Hardwick, and Sagamore are perfectly viable candidates.
Below are the most lewd-sounding towns in each of the New England states, according to Estately, as well as their runners up.
Massachusetts: Felchville, Mashpee, Wood’s Hole
New Hampshire: Effingham, Merrimack
Vermont: Cozy Corner, Essex, Hancock, Shaftsbury, Woodford, Antrim
Maine: Bangor, Owls Head, Schoodic, Shady Nook
Connecticut: Essex, Happyland, Moosup, Seymour
Perhaps our Puritan roots are to blame for such innocent-sounding towns, in comparison to Cooter, Missouri and Humptulips, Washington. You can check out the full list here.
